Dean began working in the financial services industry in 1985. In 1994 he established the financial planning practice that has grown to become 1 Life Financial Planning today. He served as a director of Western Pacific Financial Group, the Financial Services Licence Holder, up until 2007, when it was purchased by the listed entity Snowball Ltd, then again following the merger of Snowball and Shadforths.
He has developed expertise and professional competencies in all major facets of financial planning. He has completed a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, he is qualified as a Self-Managed Super Fund Specialist and is a registered Tax (Financial) Advisor.
Outside of work, Dean enjoys nothing more than spending time with family and friends, he coaches his son’s football and cricket teams. He enjoys jogging for exercise and general health, along with golf for the mental challenge.
Paul is a Certified Practising Accountant (FPS) and a Certified Financial Planner ®. He provides laid back advice from the couch. Paul worked as a taxation and business services manager for several accounting firms between 1992 and 2003.
In these roles he specialised in taxation consulting and advising on self-managed superannuation funds. He joined Western Pacific in 2003 and soon after this was admitted as a Financial Planning specialist by the CPA’s
Paul specialises in advising on tax effective accumulation strategies towards retirement and utilising these investments in retirement to receive a tax and Centrelink effective income stream. His considerable business services experience as an accountant make him particularly useful for business owners with complicated structures often not understood by traditional financial planners. He also specializes in assisting small business owners make the transition into retirement.
Paul has considerable experience in more advanced SMSF strategies and also with the GESB Super Fund.
Outside work Paul competes in anything more gruelling than golf. He is often seen around Perth’s triathlon and mountain bike races. Or alternatively with other Mamals in coffee shops. He has also just taken delivery of a new Jayco caravan and can share the passion that many of his clients enjoy for getting away
Prior to entering financial planning Terry practiced as a Chemical Engineer in South Africa. Having always had a strong interest in investment markets, Terry commenced his career in Financial Planning in 1990. He migrated to Australia in late 1994 and continued working as a financial planner in Perth, joining Western Pacific in January 1999.
Terry has broad experience in all facets of financial planning assisting many clients to plan for their financial future. He specialises in tax efficient plans to increase wealth for individuals. For retirees, plans are designed to maximise income and preserve retirement capital, so clients can enjoy financial peace of mind in their retirement.
Terry also worked in a division of Western Pacific that provided investment advice to trustees of small industry superannuation funds. This experience provided a deeper insight into the importance of asset allocation and investment selection.
Further to his Engineering Degree, Terry completed the Diploma of Financial Planning plus several courses specialising in areas such as Self-Managed Funds. He has also qualified to practice as a Certified Financial Planner, the industry’s highest professional designation.
Liam Wallace joined the practice in 2006. He has completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Planning) at Curtin University of Technology.
Liam provides research support to the team and assists in the preparation of statements of advice and implementation of new clients.
Outside of work, Liam is a keen Fremantle Dockers supporter and fashion guru. He often wears trendy shoes with very small socks.
Stephen joined the practice in 2011. He has completed a Bachelor of Business and has an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
Stephen provides client service management and construction of financial advice, with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry.
Outside of work, Stephen keeps active with social sports and has won many golden boots in indoor soccer. He hunts Pokémon in his spare time.
